Margaret E. Ward: It's one small bump and grind from pop to porn

Pop culture, which has a massive impact on children and society, is hugely influenced by pornography and is now adopting some of the traits of porn culture.
'Porn culture' is accessible to everyone regardless of age, from music videos and ads to comedy shows, music award programmes and newspapers, and shows women as little more than blow-up dolls.
High-fashion models appear in print ads reminiscent of gang rape. In rap videos, young women are ground from behind while being called bitches and whores or even, like Cyrus, they choreograph these bump-and-grind or 'twerking' performances themselves.
Girls and boys ultimately absorb this pop culture, learning perhaps that girls are only worthwhile for their looks and immediate sexual availability. Boys are also taught that their role is to be aggressive and to take – and use – what's rightfully theirs: females' body parts....
